NEW ORLEANS, LA (WLOX) –

Are YOU the next American Idol? If you’re hoping to try your luck and get on the popular singing show, here is your chance!

Auditions are taking place over the next two months in cities across the country, including one not too far from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. On Friday, hundreds will line up outside the convention center in New Orleans, eager for a shot at being a star.

Anyone wanting to audition must be between the ages of 15 and 28, which means you must be born on or between June 2, 1989 and June 1, 2003. A parent or guardian must go with anyone under the age of 18. To get a head start on the audition process, you can register online.

You can also audition online by sending in a tape to the show’s producers. For all of the details on how to submit a video online, click HERE. Here are some more guidelines and FAQ’s on auditioning.

Throughout the years, Idol has revolutionized the reality-competition genre, launching the careers of superstars Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert and more.

The 2018 winner of American Idol was Maddie Poppe, a 20-year-old student from Iowa. Her latest single “Going, Going, Gone” was released over the summer and she is scheduling tour dates now. Watch her story here:
