STARKVILLE, Miss. — With the NFL Draft nearly a month away, a total of 19 Mississippi State football players will showcase their skills in front of dozens of NFL scouts on Wednesday at MSU Pro Day.
Players will have an opportunity to go through six measurable drills – 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill and shuttle run – and then conclude the day with position workouts on site.
Fourteen members of the 2016 squad will be in attendance, including NFL Combine participants Fred Ross and Justin Senior. Former Bulldogs Fred Brown, Boobie Dixon, Jay Hughes and Josh Robinson are scheduled to participate as well. Dixon has played six NFL seasons, including most recently with the Buffalo Bills in 2015.
Wednesday provides an opportunity for defensive leaders Richie Brown, Johnathan Calvin, Kivon Coman and A.J. Jefferson to workout. Brown was the Bulldogs’ leading tackler in back-to-back seasons, posting over 100 tackles during his junior and senior campaigns. Calvin led the squad with 11.5 tackles for loss.
Jefferson was on the radar for postseason all-star games but underwent shoulder surgery following the Egg Bowl. He finished his career third in MSU all-time tackles for loss with 35 and was a team captain.
SEC Network will also be on hand Wednesday gathering footage for its platforms. Portions will air on SEC Now.
MSU Pro Day is closed to the public.
